These are my friends and their pictures in Manila, doing the traditional historical field trip send-off for anybody moving to Canada. In this case, it’s for Julz aka Jules aka Julie aka Huangcholi, “Spring Lily.” Just call her Icy, especially in the winter. (And winter is her colour, too!)

She flies next week, woohoo! I hope I get one of those flags, too. What I do know she’s bringing me is an apron. Rememer that 2nd-hand dollar apron I got at Value Village 5 years ago that says “Our Grandma’s the Greatest”? I’ve used it to shreds and can only hope I made a dead grandma somewhere proud (that I literally won’t spend another dollar on a new apron. Down payment, yes. Apron, no.) Yes, a few cookies were baked, many coffees brewed wearing that apron. And a gazillion dishes were washed. Many survive. Anyway.

They’re in green for a La Salle-Ateneo showdown of sorts, a basketball game between 2 rival schools. Am on the fence on this one (or on the green side if Bro is reading this) not just because I didn’t go to either school. It’s because my school colour’s, uh, maroon. (Do they even use that word anymore? Wine? Burgundy?) And it doesn’t do anything for me. I think I’m a summer, but sometimes I think spring, especially when am anemic. Jules, bring your book!!
